I’m Sean Griffin, an attorney practicing in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. As one of the world's first IAPP-certified Artificial Intelligence Governance Professionals (AIGP) and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), I counsel clients on the responsible and effective use of AI. I also help clients establish and maintain data security, respond to data breaches, and litigate privacy cases.

Additionally, I litigate contract and fraud cases in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and around the country. Typically, I advise government contractors, defend insurance companies, and defend employers from employment-related claims. However, my cases range from construction claims to bankruptcy litigation to legal malpractice defense and beyond.

After graduating from Harvard College and Columbia Law School, I clerked for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. After my clerkship, I worked as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, where I handled commercial litigation trials and appeals as well as government contract and construction litigation.

On this blog, you can read my thoughts on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. I’ve also included posts on commercial litigation strategy and tips on the law in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
